about

[Found amongst the papers of Howard Phillips Lovecraft]

March 12, 1937: "Three weeks (maybe more?) have passed since I found the strange note hastily scrawled in
red on my home´s outer door. It read as follows:

´In the dread of R'yleh
buried in waves
Cthulhu waits
dreaming

there are yet those
who have not forgotten
and hasten his wakening
when the stars are right
we will intuit his coming
through nightmares
and the spilling of blood

Shub N´garath is the gate
and key to the gate
separating mankind
from madness´

Since the message, I´m certain of nothing and cannot trust my senses any longer...least of which the sense of
time!

I fear people and seize with dread when they pass here...lest one of them be author of the prose frantically
scrawled in red on my outer door...
[Here, Lovecraft´s paper was partially burnt, heavily smudged and indecipherable. Only scattered words and
phrases could be discerned in the portion remaining before it ended abruptly.]

“...broadcasting wave[length?]
14148.62 kHz
...eldritch transmissions
None believe me...
[p]ut on tape!

...find recordings! Destroy them!"

[End]

What follows are the recordings later found hidden beneath the floor boards of Lovecraft´s Providence, Rhode Island study after his unexplained disappearance March 15, 1937.
